The Atlanta Wine School Wine Barrels of Chardonnay

3rd Annual Wine Harvest Day Trip
An AWS Exclusive

We have run this day trip in 2004 & 2005.

For the 3rd year, our winery is Persimmon Creek Vineyards outside Clayton, Georgia. Husband and wife winemakers Sonny & Mary Ann Hardman will be our hosts for the day.

Note: 99+% of wineries will not participate in a day trip during their busiest, most hectic time of the year--harvest. Persimmon Creek Vineyards makes nice wines of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Riesling, and Seyval Blanc and has always been a strong supporter of our education programs. Don't make the mistake of thinking because this is a "North Georgia" winery that you are giving up anything in the experience! Otherwise their wines would never be on wine menu's like the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Bacchanalia.

Top Right: Merlot growing almost 2,000 feet above sea level in the Appalachian foothills. This elevation moderates temperatures considerably, making this macroclimate more similar to Burgundy, France than to California.
Middle Right: Dr. Sonny Hardman discusses his philosophy of canopy managment, and the viticulural issues particular to the East Coast.
Bottom Right: This serene view is from the outer limits of the vineyards looking back towards the winery--not seen behind the trees. This little mountain stream has loads of fish--as witnessed by the Hardman's dog who helped himself to one at lunchtime.
