Introduction to Wine, Level I (2008 Edition)

Learn HOW to taste wine, and HOW to describe what you like. Add an extra dimension to your meals, and improve your confidence in business and social situations with wine. Introduction to Wine is the flagship class of The Atlanta Wine School. This eight-week diploma course will provide a firm foundation for the wine curious, the wine lover or the wine enthusiast. It is also a good refresher for those that have had a basic introduction in the past. These classes are limited to 18 attendees

Level I is an eight (8) session course and includes:
  • Windows on the World Wine Course book, signed by Author Kevin Zraly
  • The Essential Wine Tasting Guide (see right)
  • Introduction of the Systematic Tasting Method for detecting and describing wine's aromas & flavors
  • History of wine
  • Grape types
  • Wine-making
  • Immersion on the following wine production areas of:
    • France
    • Spain
    • Italy
    • California, Oregon, Washington, New York
    • Germany/Austria
    • Australia/New Zealand
    • Argentina/Chile
  • At least 6 wines per class for tasting
  • -- about $1,200 worth of wine alone in eight weeks!
  • Completion certificate for making all classes
  • Diploma for passing (optional) final exam
