The Atlanta Wine School Wine Barrels of Chardonnay

The Art of Chardonnay: Man's Most Adaptable Wine Grape
Presentation by Peter Repole of Kendall Jackson Winery

Some might suggest Chardonnay is the "Britney Spears of Wine--the one everyone loves to hate!" And wine snobs may turn up their noses, suggesting "ABC"--Anything But Chardonnay, but let's look a the facts. Today, and for the last decade, Chardonnay is the single largest crop of wine grapes, year-in-year-out, as well as fetching the highest price per ton. More than 1/4 of all table wines made in this country is a Chardonnay, and 35 of 42 global wine-producing countries grow & make Chardonnay wine.

The "beauty" of this tasting is that Kendall Jackson has controlled all of the grape sourcing variables (Terroir) but has treated each wine differently in the winery, utilizing Malolactic Fermentation (or not) and using different levels of barrel toasting (or not) to showcase very different wines.

If you want to learn and taste how nothing more than winemaking choices produce a crisp, green-apple Chardonnay or a buttery, carmel-apple Chardonnay, then this is the class for you.
