The Atlanta Wine School Wine Barrels of Chardonnay

"Making Magnificat"
Blending & Tasting with Winemaker Janet Myers

of Franciscan Estates & Mt. Veeder wineries

Blending Magnificat

Eye of Newt, Drop of Moon Oil, Sliver of Frog's Skin...
Remember High School science class--mixing potions, watching reactions? Well, now you are doing the same thing but you are able to drink it! And your "special blend" might be the next $50 bottle of Magnificat.

How often do you get to be one-on-one with a Napa Valley winemaker?

Janet Myers, winemaker for Franciscan Estates & Mt. Veeder wineries, will take attendees through a blending exercise similar to creating Magnificat at the winery, her proprietary Meritage blend.

And Even More Tasting...
After the blending/tasting exercise (and we find out who the best winemaker is in the group!) we will taste through 7 additional wines:
Franciscan Estates Napa Chardonnay, Cuvee Sauvage, Napa Merlot, Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, and Magnificat. Plus Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon and Mt. Veeder Reserve.

WInemaker Janet Myers About Janet Myers, Director of Winemaking
“I have two passions, Cabernet and Pinot Noir,” says Janet. “And in the heart of Napa Valley, the Franciscan Oakville Estate vineyards are the perfect place for me to explore Cabernet and its nuances. I love the body and texture of Cab, how it has layers of intensity and richness, but with such finesse when you get it right.” Before coming to Franciscan Oakville Estate in August of 2003 as associate winemaker, Janet also enjoyed stints in Australia’s Margaret River region and at big Cabernet producers Beaulieu Vineyard, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and Louis Martini. Janet was promoted to director of winemaking in September 2005.
Janet finds the Oakville Estate vineyards have their own unique signature. “These vineyards give us very supple, full, elegant wines with beautiful cassis flavors and mouth-filling fine tannins,” she says. “That’s pure Oakville.”
