(Formerly Young Entrepreneur's Organization) 2nd Annual Wine Tasting
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
| The
Atlanta city-scape awakens for a "wine trivia challenge"
tasting. Each table is a team and one table's winners will walk
home with a nice bottle of Chilean wine. |
Listening and tasting on Pinot Noir. |
We have a winner! This table edges
out the other four to take the win...er, uh wine. |
Everybody gets lucky at these tastings. |

Annual School Nights Series Launches with Cabernets on Cold Nights |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| The Piedmont Room at Park Tavern
is the setting for all twenty of these courses in 2008. |
Beth Nowak of Diageo Chateau &
Estates is helping us out on half of these classes this year. Beth
always makes class fun AND always has give-aways! |
Turns out, it was not a very "cold
night" for the Cabernets, but all found the wines delicious. |
After this class, attendees voted
to have future classes seated in dining "rounds" so all
can mix and mingle. This change has been effect the last four classes. |

Vintage
Port Tasting & Wine Dinner with Roy Hersh of For the Love
of Port |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Roy Hersh flew in from Seattle the
day before this event. He spent most of the day decanting, three hours
of tasting with us, and then three hours through a wine dinner. Truly
a Marathon Man! |
All sixteen vintage ports were decanted
and poured in advance. The group size was limited to sixteen, thus
each person had the equivalent of 1 full bottle of port in front of
them! |
Larry Blanchard and Lynn Vining
are trying to decide on their favorites of the evening. |
The bounty of vintage ports includes
"Roy's Ringer", which was tasted blind and attendees attempted
to guess the identity. It was in fact a 1977 Taylor's. |

| Missouri
Grape & Wine Conference |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Sleepy Norton variety vines--the
real legacy wine of Missouri. The day before this shot the area received
up to 9 inches of snow. |
Stone Hill is the most well known
and economically important winery in the state. This is one of many
cellars--which 100 years ago was a mushroom farm! |
The conference was held at the massive
Tan-Tar-A resort on Lake of the Ozarks. |
What do you do in between wine tastings?
Have a Souza tequila tasting, of course. |

Creek Vineyards & Winery |

 |
| Nine eager students descend on Persimmon
Creek Vineyards and Winery. Over the course of 14+ months they will
be making Cabernet Franc wine. |
Winemaker/Proprietor Sonny Hardman
and Atlanta Wine School's Kara Eads pull some developing wine out
of barrel with a "wine thief." |
