The Georgia Wine Challenge
Held Saturday, September 17th, at Wine South

The match-ups:

WINNER - Mezza Corona Pinot Griggio (Italy)
Vs. Wolf Mountain Plenitude

WINNER - Piesporter Michelsberg Riesling Kabinett (Germany)
Vs. Persimmon Creek Riesling

WINNER - Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon (Washington State)
Vs. Creekstone Cabernet Sauvignon

In a blind tasting for consumers held at Wine South, September 17th, The Georgia Wine Challenge saw three Georgia grown & produced wines take on very established, if not historic global wine regions.

For parity, similar grape varietal choices (or blends), at similar vintages and similar price points were chosen.

When the votes were tallied 129 total votes were registered for Georgia wines while 227 total votes were registered for "world" wines. The closest competion was between the Mezza Corona Pinot Griggio and the Wolf Mountain Plenitude, the latter a GA wine which contains a blend of Vidal & Seyval Blancs, both French/American Hybrid grapes.
