The Beginning & The End
~ Aperitifs & Digestifs
Presented by Paul Kelly

It is believed the notion of having a drink before dinner
dates back to Ancient Egyptian times. "Aperire"
is latin for "to open" and aperitif, the internationally
known French term, is derived from it.
Digestifs are very similar, but consumed at the conclusion of a meal. It is commonly accepted wisdom that digestives help with a pleasant digestion of the meal. They are normally consumed "neat" and will often contain higher alcohol by volume than aperitifs.
